I still believe, because of the timing, Trump could be one of America’s greatest Presidents if he’d make a few radical changes to his personality and agendas…

Trump can give America a great future with a wave of his hand.

Trump’s so close and he’s been given so much, not just from his dad who left him a fortune but by fate. The hand this current President has been dealt is loaded with trump cards, and all because of the calendar’s date. The time for huge upheaval, a powerful surge of change is at hand in America and the World. Trump holds all the cards to win these times over if he makes the right play.

In nineteen twenty, no one could see the horse and buggy days vanishing by nineteen thirty-two. There were a few companies working on cars back then, even earlier—Studebaker developed an electric car in 1902

1902 electric car

and then a gasoline powered car in 1904—

1905 Studebaker gas powered car

but, basically  buggies made fortunes and most believed horses were here to stay. Oh my, how the world had changed nineteen years later.

But what about now? Proponents of renewable energies clamor on about climate change, pollution and the urgent need for change if we are to save our future. The old guard of gas, oil and coal remain dug in, entrenched and supported by fortunes earned in the past, and point to a need for newer technologies before renewable energies can provide the world’s need for power. Most say it will be thirty years or longer before the renewable industry can compete with fossil fuels and make a dent in the power market.

Think back to the Nineteen twenties…..

Here’s the key to now: http://safeshare.tv/w/ntjwDrwEwh

As you see in this short two minute clip, knowledge is not increasing in a linear, even pace that can be charted or tied to any speed. No, we live in exponentially growing times of size, number, knowledge and possibility. Our time, Trump’s time, can best be thought of as a rocket ship that zooms to an unknown place with ever-increasing speed.

Get ready for the ride of our lives!

Just now, Las Vegas has gone to 100% renewable energy for the entire city-the result of a ten-year long renewable energy project. Some trains now run virtually energy free while transporting six-hundred thousand workers per day! * Even smaller, individual renewables are making developmental leaps. **Today, more people work in renewable energy than those who work in coal, gas and oil production and exploration combined!

Trump looks to  fossil fuels as our answer but it’s not. And as President, Trump has the power, the gift, to be the one who moves America as if by a flip of a coin into a bright future, to jobs, huge prosperity, abundance, leadership and a brand new world. Drilling, mining, fracking, dirty pipe lines that bust, these are the horse and buggy of our day; Trump’s day,*** but he can change this.

The reins of huge change are in Trump’s hands if he’ll only take them. Come on Trump; you know what you should be grabbing. The chance to make history is before you but you have to step up.

Trump’s on the wrong side of so many things like the Paris Climate accord and a wall that won’t work unless we post large signs on it that read, “No ladders or tunnels allowed.” BTW, 70% of all illegals got into America by plane…he’s also completely off on ‘Clean Coal’, that the oxymoron of the ages.****

And then, there’s the problem of ISIL. Trump’s right that the world has to do better at vetting immigrants and protecting our populations from random violence. How to do it; that’s another tipping point of history now.

CNN said it best today: “So, the state visit will go ahead, and there will be protests. But if Trump could only get off Twitter for five minutes and focus on the essentials of the Western alliance, he’d discover that Europe is edging closer to his way of thinking on the most important issue of our time. (ISIL)There is, increasingly, more agreement between us than disagreement.”

There you have it. Trump has to cut his losses, time spent on bad ideas, and grab the future as it’s truly unfolding, not just the way he wants it to go. Trump sits on a gold mine of Time.
Someone should tell him.

Who will tell him?

**** Just read that President Trump mused about lining his great wall with solar panels.

Trump effectively won the election by convincing Americans that our country had become the worst thing since rotten apples. Thing is, if today’s successful women’s march on Washington doesn’t end up creating change it will most likely be due to one reason: people are basically too comfortable living to keep up the hard work it will take to force change.

See? It’s a time of weird dynamics, an ill-shaped trapezoid of varying dichotomies festers within American society-inside the heads of American voters. Collectively we drop 90 million at the box office and complain about the price of bread after enjoying the show.

Trump recognized the beast that is our society, grabbed the reins and is now gonna lead us to where ever the hell we are going.  Trump is no moderate. He may be insane, some have claimed it, but he’s no dummy. There have been lunatics in world history, leaders, who didn’t digest power well. How will Trump do? I imagine the plethora of American power upon Trump’s plate. The congress are his servers; Americans his workers. Who will he tip, retain or shaft?

It seems ‘wine-and-dine’ is key when it comes to surviving Trump’s moods.

Those who donated generously to Trump’s campaign efforts are being rewarded with high paying prestigious appointments. The government contracts and financial awards to come may mostly go unnoticed as they pass beneath the table, but they will happen as well.  Mexico will never pay for any part of an American built wall but a relative of a relative or business partner of Trump’s will make out like a bandit building it. They will deposit our tax dollars.border As it stands now, people play volleyball over the Mexican/US boarder fence.

Trump rose to power by raking the imagination of less fortunate  workers with mind twisting lingo, ‘I could shoot someone and my followers would still love me,’ and by opening their closets so full of demons, hate, prejudice, notions of white power and abusive attitudes toward women and minorities in general.  NAFTA, a notion first brought to America’s attention by Ronald Reagan in a televised speech so long ago, has helped fuel the downturn plight of American workers-this and other business dealings have withered the spirits of American workers and enabled them to be set aflame by the biting rhetoric of Trump, the likes of which America has never heard before, not in its entirety, not as such a wide sweeping rout of long-held American ideals. (“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”)

For now, the die is cast for America. The color seems white; the room divvied up by what is hated most. Trump’s call for American loyalty may be a battle cry of a contest that will be held among ourselves.

We just don’t know about Trump’s Presidency, yet. His appointments look bad to anyone who isn’t rich or making a buck digging the earth. Still, Trump has that amazing opportunity to turn on a dime and send America into an economic boom by pushing huge solar power contracts and building the infrastructure needed to make this power source feasible. America certainly needs work done on its roads, bridges and dams; there are huge employment opportunities waiting. Will he punch those buttons, or keep asking his cronies in congress to bring him more wine?

Trump the multi-millionaire appoints other millionaires to run his administration. I wonder how the cowboy who rides in a saddle that needs replacing feels about that? A lot of underemployed or non-working Americans put Trump in office. In turn, you me and every other hard-working American can rest assured that Trump will be making billions for his businesses while in office.

As a protest, the Right, Alt-Right and others have elected the same old, same old. Many of those who voted for Trump are seeing this now. Great. NOT! I suspect many will have to put-off buying new tires for their truck this year or, maybe, for four years. Five hundred thousand American marchers went to Washington D.C. today because they see a possible train wreck that is Donald Trump coming. People marched today all over the world for Humanitarian rights. But are these marchers merely waving signs and flags in front of a charging bull? Time will tell.*

One more takeaway

You can only squeeze the middle class workers so much and for so long via both political party’s actions before that electorate is willing to shoot themselves in the foot rather than vote for an ongoing economic travesty.

The day is done; our country’s course is set for the foreseeable future.

Advice for President Obama:

Sign as many (a thousand or more) Executive Orders between now and January. This might slow that foreseeable future of a beast down.

The day is done…for now.

clinton-trump1Politics is more than dirty, it’s a murderous business–Shakespeare knew. We all should vote during this upcoming election, then duck for cover. Some good things–it doesn’t matter what happens now, the world will eventually(if we survive) become solar-powered; diets with much less meat will prevail(dang it- I love meat but , yeah, this will happen); bullet trains will cross America(built by the U.S. or China-it’s a given*).
rail_map_of_china-svghigh-speed-train-china1
One bad thing- the world of indiscriminate killing is here to stay, no matter who gets to be President of the U.S….

It will be semi-okay no matter who wins this election–I felt poorly (nice term) about Bush Jr.–especially Cheney —but I survived. Just remember our military is in charge of our foreign policy, and for now works mostly to gather as much oil and gas power as possible from other regions.sprite602

It doesn’t matter what the President says about military matters–unless they get in the way–then they get shot three times by one magical bullet. Again, the world’s eventual shift to solar power is certain…. the TPP by any name is certain.

TPP protest

The discussion

The discussion

The middle class slide will continue-the Bank of England(Queen-)The Feds who set interest rates will continue to control our economy’s money supply- Vote as you will and speak your mind as you can! We are in a huge river of time, of humanity, and it only flows one way.

Here in America, and across the globe, we’re way past the debate about a ruling class. Police and military are out to enforce the decisions of the rulers, the owners, and workers fight back with sticks and stones.  tumblr_inline_oc2er0z9jr1qi01bi_1280

The Rockefeller commission(in the 1960’s) set out to organize a world economy, countries be damned, and  NAFTA and the TPP are just steps laid by that body. For us, the workers, there is no way out. We can only elect those who at least speak of our plight and say they’d like to help, or fight to the death.

A guaranteed income is really being discussed by those in power…What is AGI?.. It’s a check we, the displaced workers, get each month that is a set amount. Why? It’s simple. Rulers see that through computer technology and IT work that millions upon millions of workers world-wide will be laid off within the next twenty years….What to DO? If people have no buying power, laid off, without funds, how can any business profit? Worker’s laid off will have no purchasing power.  Yes, the answer is a world-wide guaranteed income…..odd, huh?

It’s all too weird for me to wrap my head around,, but know this: the FEDS-not at all an American group- has orchestrated America’s economy for like forever. Our interest rates and money supply has been solely controlled by this group-we don’t have a so-called, “free  market,” as so many of American’s believe.  Our interest rates, those lashes, are controlled by an agency outside the U.S.—we are under that thumb. In fact, to this date our economy dictates the world’s stability, everything we know is controlled by this group.

Depressing? Maybe. But them’s the facts,,,and has been for soooo long. You want a better life for yourself and for our children like I do. I know that. But so many things are beyond the reach of our efforts, and of our President. Still, I’d favor a President who at least speaks to the plight of the middle class… I don’t hear that from Trump…not at all. He’s stuck on the ‘Trickle down economics’ that amounts to the middle class getting pissed on. Me? I’m not into that.
Hillary is our only hope to make things a bit better for the working class at this point. Pull that lever, or mark your ballot for Hillary—we can’t fall back to business take all  while the middle class quickly falls into obscurity. Sometimes, slow is better.
The Republicans can try again in four years. The general economic forecast is for a tough three or so years ahead with a recovery around 2020ish..Who’s is President won’t change this…That might be an opportunity for the Republicans then, but not now.
Franque23 wants a chance for our children.

Recently, a FB post caught my eye. It featured a Silver Back Gorilla signing as he expressed his feelings and thoughts about the Paris Climate Talks. It’s clear this animal has a certain degree of intelligence not thought possible by sooo many.  But what about Koko?  Just watch-http://www.koko.org/node/2195

Koko signs, Earth

Koko signs, Earth

Koko signs a whole bunch of stuff….

"I am Gorilla"

“I am Gorilla”

And then, also this-

"But Man stupid."

“But Man stupid.”

See? It’s freaky to realize this Gorilla knows what he’s talking about and has strong opinions on the subject matter. This video illustrates why I think hunters of Gorilla’s and all exotic animals must be stopped, and maybe what’s freakier than a signing gorilla is that many humans would hunt this animal down and kill him if they could.

In the end, for many of us there’s nothing like having a trophy-trophy wives,

According ot reports, Donald Trumps current wife wanted to show how sexy of a first lady she'd make....Some trophies need polishing, others, not so much.

(According to reports, Donald Trump’s current wife wanted to show how sexy of a first lady she’d make….Some trophies need polishing, others, not so much.)

or having a trophy husband,

 What?

(What?)

or a slew of trophy animal heads plastered on walls. All over the world there are groups of people who like killing someone’s spirit, or purpose, or gutting an animal that didn’t see the bullet coming.

Cecil the lion- how in god's name is killing this animal called sport?

Cecil the lion- how in god’s name is killing this animal called sport?

Much of the world was horrified by the slaughter of the great African lion, Cecil, but somehow that killer slipped through the knot of justice and danced his way to a future. He has much too much company in that regard.

This is dick-wade dentist Palmer who killed Cecil...this pic, however, is of another murder his proud to have committed.

This is the dick-wad dentist, Palmer, who killed Cecil…this picture, however, is of another murder he’s proud to have committed.

Bluntly, these animals who mankind allows to be slaughtered every day have intelligence,(that’s why they hide and run from humans-duh!)  Here’s a chance to watch Koko learning sign–fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNuZ4OE6vCk

All kinds of animals deserve so much better than to be hunted down by people in planes, boats, trucks, cars or on foot. Have you ever noticed how almost any animal you see crossing a road is running for their life? They have a concept of death, and a desire to live. This is why America should have a HUGE( i.e. in Donald Trump’s voice) building project to provide either overhead or underground animal passage ways across major roads and roads that traverse wildlife areas. Mostly, even our National Parks don’t provide this added protection for the life those authorities purport to value so much-

animals are intelligent, and they use these to live.

Animals are intelligent, and they use these to live.

Animals either know about the passes and use them , or they are taught to us them.

Animals either know about the passes and use them , or they are taught to use them.

Safe form traffic-now if we could only stop killing them.

Safe from traffic-now if we could only stop killing them.

But heck, we can’t even stop people from killing people, why would I expect we would care about the vanishing wildlife, the ones who can think well enough to survive if it wasn’t for us.

Thing is, we might lose our underwear next.....then what?

I’ve been thinking about people, and it’s occurred to me there’s a test we forget to take in school.

Intelligence is a bit of a nebulous term. Here we are, people with so-called intelligence who have built enough nuclear bombs to blow up our only world a zillion times over, and people routinely think nuclear power plants are a good idea even after the horrors those plant melt downs have already caused to our planet.

Fukushima still smokes today-do not inhale.

Fukushima still smokes today-do not inhale.

My mind keeps asking: so what's the lesson here?

My mind keeps asking: so what’s the lesson here?

I say there’s some sort of intelligence test people are missing; the human race needs to re-think things. Perhaps the biggest test for humanity is how we show mercy to the things we could otherwise kill. Do we just kill, or do we try to help.

As a kid, I loved seeing Theodore Roosevelt’s Sagamore Hill Estate-went maybe 50 times- with all the dead animal heads staring at me from their perch on the walls.

Dead heads, and not music lovers.

Dead heads, and not music lovers.

Now, the thought of Roosevelt killing all those animals for sport and me enjoying seeing the heads makes me want to throw-up, barf a bag full and then puke. Of course, times have changed, I’ve grown up, read, cared, so my thoughts on the matter of dead animal heads have changed. Why can’t Mankind grow up and learn as well?

When will we learn that the life around us has intelligence and should not be hunted, destroyed, but managed for the prosperity of the World. That answer is the correct one to seek for what should be Humanity’s next, new improved test.

Koko hopes we will pass…..

Some say you’ve done a lot of good during your terms as President, others not so much. But, you are letting the world down now. Drilling in the Arctic has to be the worst possible scenario in terms of environmental conservation, and pointless to boot.* Of course, As President, you know the ins and outs of drilling in the Arctic, that the arctic gas and oil fields are the largest left on earth, but they also reside where cleanup is impossible, human response time to disasters slow, and economically and culturally important species will be put at risk by drilling.

It’s simply not true that America needs to process the Arctic waters for oil production. It’s simply not true that drilling in the arctic ocean will help secure American’s future, or make a difference in our over all supply and demand of oil. The entire world is turning toward solar power development, and wind and water power-alternative energy. Why enforce a bad decision now and lead America away from the future?

The gain is little and the risk of environmental damage high.

Even America’s own watch dog agency ,The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, stated that there was an 75% chance that the world will suffer an environmental disaster brought on by off shore Arctic drilling. And, there’s more- “The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management released the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for Lease Sale 193 in the Chukchi Sea in Northwest Alaska. The federal government unlawfully sold the oil and gas lease to oil companies, including Shell, in 2008 when it underestimated the risks of a large oil spill. The revised analysis found a 75 percent chance that one or more large oil spills could occur and that many species of marine wildlife would face substantial injury and mortality in the face of an oil spill. Despite these risks, the federal government is prepared to offer 29.4 million acres, the entire Chukchi Sea Program Area, for oil and gas development. – See more at: http://www.foe.org/news/news-releases/2015-02-chukchi-lease-analysis-predicts-large-arctic-oil-spills#sthash.p2xhmDzG.dpuf. Why then, Mr. President, are you willing to risk so much for so little?

Why would you risk so much.....

Why would you risk so much…..

Mr. President, if you closed your eyes today and envisioned the 400,000 people who attended your first inauguration, you’d see a huge crowd of cheering people. Thing is, you’d also be hard pressed to find one among that crowd who supports your decision to drill in the Arctic. How can you turn your back on the very people who gave birth to your power?

Money can’t be enough. We all know the situation is tenuous between the terrorists, Isis, and American’s need to remain as independent as possible from the rich oil-producing countries, but making huge environmental mistakes in this day and age is not a show of force, but folly.

Short term, risky goals and solutions will usher in nothing but old and new problems soon enough.

Mr. President, I’m asking, as so many, that you stand back from an earlier decision you made to allow drilling in the Arctic. I’m asking you to hear the hearts and minds of those who voted you into office, that you turn away from fear, from the what if’s and what could be, and see what is. There’s an urgent call from your supporters for you to stop the Shell arctic drilling that is currently in motion. You can do this.

Life as we know it and our environment are so much more important than any speculative policy decision. You have to stand up for us and do what we know is right.

Baked Alaska has nothing on melting Florida this summer.

Welcome to the dog days of summer.....

Welcome to the dog days of summer…..

Ha! This state has put Hell out of business. Now, if a person lives a routinely horrid life, the Devil merely sends them to Florida to spend out their time as a sand flea.

It’s so hot in Florida even the bugs have slowed to a crawl…

Floridians go to indoor sauna’s to cool off.

Ya don't wanna get stuck in traffic.....

Ya don’t wanna get stuck in traffic…..

I’ll never think of a good lookin’ gal as being  hot any more…Ha! Not!! Anyway, the outside temps here in the land of the palms have given the word hot a scorching new threshold, a plethora of sizzling platitudes: way hot; fried and fired up; burned out; back draft day; blistering baby; no touch day and hell’s breath day to name a few.

Wanna lose weight? Blitzkrieg your way to Florida from up north. Stand outside a few hours then go back home. You’ll be amazed by what a difference few bazillion degrees can make. Then again, there’s an upside to the heat. Think of the money to be saved by cooking on the sidewalk, though who’ll be left alive to eat the food? As I get it, maybe only sharks.*

more good news--Floridan roads haven't melted like they have in India-not yet.

Nudist throw in the towel and run for cover.

Be sure to turn that door knob with your gloved hand and bring a diver’s oxygen tank into your car when driving.

Florida should change its name to IV central. The ants have burrowed to China; the roaches have flown to the Himalaya’s. KKK members have quit burning torches and decided to throw ice parties instead.  The last remaining umbrella in Florida was sold one hour and ten minutes ago. Sad.

So yeah, hitting forty below up at Lake Bonaparte, New York, during the winter is not perfect, but jumping over forty degrees above Hell heat in Florida during the summer is centrally unnerving as well. Freeze or fry, that’s the question McDonald employees ask as they hand out driving directions to the north into the hands of liquified tourist who dribble up alongside their window.

Idea man strikes again!

Idea man strikes again!

Come to think of it, the Floridian afternoon showers are such a blessing when they do come that they create the perfect time for state-wide wet tee shirts contests! Where or where is our state leadership in this one? At least the students at U of F have an idea.**

student skip the wet tee shirt idea and run for a fountain....

students skip the wet tee-shirt idea and run for a fountain in their undies….

Singing in the Rain should be Florida’s state song.

Check out a beach scene in Florida before AC hit the fan----thankfully, our society came to its senses for a bit before we went nuts-again.

I may be getting old and grumpy-okay, I am. I may go around mumbling curses under my breath, smashing walls(who saw that corner coming? Not me.), breaking dishes that slip through my fingers, kicking defenseless sticks, raking leaves-sometimes I burn them-and I’ve stepped on more than a few ants in my artsy- ol’ fartsy years(don’t ask), but these are the good things I do.

But really, I'm just concerned....

But really, I’m just concerned….

About being irritated…..I’m starting to think the city of Gainesville and Alachua County leadership is a bit screwy.

Gainesville had a reputation of being the Berkeley of the South back in 1970’s South.*  It wasn’t just the daylight nude block parties or the clothing optional Halloween Ball that earned the city it’s reputation. The leaders seemed progressive-they planned stuff like Farmers Markets, bike lanes, city beautification(once earning Gainesville a top ten tree city award in the USA), and tolerance was promoted when it came to casual pot smoking or large outside gatherings of like-minds. (Omit Gainesville eight here**).

Gainesville used to rock.

I’m one to think that the over-all Laissez-faire attitude put forth by city and county commissioners and authorities alike gave birth to some of the greatest rock musicians of all time…Don Felder; Bo Diddley; Tom Petty; Minnie Reperton; Stephen Stills and Bernie Leaden, to name a few. All either came from Gainesville or lived in the vicinity-and nearly all at the same time! Think about that list of creative souls-amazing.

Freedom bares creativity, happiness, an energetic populace and a true spirit of cooperation. That truth is exemplified by Gainesville’s past, but that past is history, too…

Now, Gainesville and the County are being directed- or maybe controlled- by a bunch of numb-nuts.

Drat! That's the problem in a nut shell!

Drat! That’s the problem in a nut shell!

Why do I think this? The advent of a disastrous Bio-Mass plant has been found by an independent firm to not be in the best interest of the county citizens. It turns out, the Bio Mass plant is a polluting smoke machine that will not lower energy prices and worse, one that will cost those living here hundreds of millions of dollars. Hence, the name calling is a good place to start. But, what exactly did that independent panel write about the plant? Read on-

“Navigant’s report affirms the view that the commission’s biomass decision was made mostly for ideological reasons rather than being based on a good assessment and risk analysis of the benefits outweighing the costs.

The report makes it clear that the commission should’ve walked away from the contract with GREC.

There’s more in this report about how wrong Gainesville’s commissioners were to build the plant under the changing contractual terms they finally accepted-but you get the point-name calling is an appropriate response for citizens to take when faced with elected officials who refuse to bend to the will of the people, read the facts, change course when that is best, or read the hand-writing on the wall.

From another finding….”Burning wood and other biological materials for energy emits as much or more pollution than burning fossil fuels, including coal.”

http://www.pfpi.net/air-pollution-2 Read it and weep Gainesvillians!

Of course, the same money it cost to build a stupid bio-mass plant would have been better spent on solar power development. This would have been in the best interest of Alachua County citizens, the ones who pay the bills, but the politicians here now choose to lag behind, follow others who can’t see the sunshine. It seems they’re afraid to lead, or they’ve been coerced by big money to make poor decisions.

It’s brain drain time in Alachua County/City of Gainesville….I think this calls for an idea…

images (23)Wait! Why stop with crazy ass power decisions  when there’s more to do? The aesthetic view of the clouds, sun and stars can be obliterated as well!

Recently, it was proposed that a large, twelve story commercial(money-making) property be built downtown. This is all the rage in the local paper-what a great idea-it’s the way to go! No, it’s not a good idea, but another example of outrageous lack of leadership. Here’s what’s wrong with this idea. Long ago(2009, in those ancient times) faithful representatives of citizens of Gainesville directed-by a vote of 7:0- that no buildings over six stories be built downtown since we enjoy seeing the sky! Imagine! Some people want to see beyond a block! (here’s the ordinance)

Name: URBAN MIXED-USE 1 BUILDING HEIGHTS (B)
Type: Ordinance Status: Adopted
File created: 4/2/2009 In control: City Attorney
On agenda: Final action: 4/16/2009
Title: URBAN MIXED-USE 1 BUILDING HEIGHTS (B) Ordinance No. 0-09-01; Petition No. 34TCH-07 PB An ordinance of the City of Gainesville, Florida, relating to density and building height in the Urban Mixed-Use 1 zoning district (UMU-1: up to 75 units/acre); amending subsection 30-65.1(d)(4) of the Land Development Code by deleting redundant references to density and building height; amending subsection 30-65.1(d)(5) by imposing a maximum overall building height with a minimum of two stories and a maximum of six stories and by deleting the option of seeking additional stories by special use permit; providing a severability clause; providing a repealing clause; and providing an immediate effective date.

As noted, this ordinance passed with a 7;0 vote, a tally that had been well pushed by public opinion. But, alas, that was 6 longs years ago-a lifetime or two for butterflies, and maybe maggots. Now, it seems Gainesville’s elected officials can’t wait to make our town look like Miami.  Developers drool at the thought.

Recently, a vast woodland within the city limits was bush whacked and chain sawed down.  The area ran a muck with wild growth,(think forest) full of annoying birds, rabbits, every type of small animal on up to an often spotted bob cat. First, all the underbrush was bulldozed away, and then all trees but sand pine, maybe an oak or two, were destroyed in the name of “restoration.” Wowoow–there’s a laugher! Of course, this is all part of a 100 year-long plan, so when it fails to improve our environment citizens can hold those who made this scourge of our forest accountable-we’ll be here to do that, right?

Since one bad land raping decision deserve another, it’s said county officials plan to use a poisonous defoliant upon whats left of the acreage to help. eradicate all unwanted growth. There’s just nothing like killing everything in sight, when you have no insight, no sense, no environmental concern but for a bogus one hundred year plan. Bah!

You might guess, I have another question about this massive killing of forest land we need to do now in order to restore our environment 100 years later: does that stuff we removed burn well in, like, Bio-Mass plants?

So yeah-call me grumpy, but I’m right.

1)The bio mass plant is not a good idea-It’s a wrong way turn for power development in Alachua County. Elected officials refused to read the stop sign on that. The independent review states there was no blatant wrong-doing by elected officials,(meaning they didn’t actually go out and shoot people), but it’s clear in the report that they were hardly less than corrupt in their decision to force this project though. Back room deals, off the books conferences/agreements, difficult postings of meeting times meant to hear public views, and a willy nilly decision to own not just a % of the plant, but take on all of it’s liability makes this whole fiasco seem like a Gainesville tea-pot doom hoe-down.

2) Bulldozing woodland for a 100 year plan is not enforceable, and allows for no direct accountability . It’s a sham that appears more like a pine planting that can be used in the bio mass plant within 20 years time that’s hidden under the guise of environmental development. Wildlife and forest be damned.

3)Building up in downtown Gainesville is expressly against the people’s will and that of the elected officials who voted 7;0 against high-rise development as recently as 2009. Still, all the PR I read states Gainesvillians can’t wait to be hemmed in by city canyon-like buildings.

Hmmm,,lets review the term I used for those responsible for our local  leadership’s IQ  downturn: Numb-nuts-….. yeah, it fits, though I could think of worse terms to use…believe me, others have.

The worst news? There’s so much more to talk about.

It’s not rocket science. The mother we all share is Mother Earth. It’s super that we have, Earth Day, but we all should remember the lump of clay beneath every travel is our Mother as well.

Mom is always a-round.

Mom is always a-round.

There is no life as we know it without our Earth.

Such beautiful life comes forth form our Mother Earth.

Such beautiful life comes forth from our Mother Earth.

Disney was right-most plants and animals of this earth are our friends if we only would let that be-

Life is happening all around us every second of every single day.

Life is happening all around us every second of every single day.

Earth. An immense montage of unimaginable beauty; a labyrinth of forests, streams, rivers, ravines, canyons, mountains, prairies, desserts and yes, cities.

I was amazed by discussions I witnessed during the 1970’s, my college years, that referred to things like-Man verses Nature…as though the two were not one and the same?!?!? Actually, as far back as 1864 people were writing about the lack of separation, or difference, between Man and Nature(Man and nature; or, Physical geography as modified by human action is a book written by George Perkins Marsh in 1864.)

Somehow, Mankind(Us) lost our way. Our logic failed us; our need for growth and power to further that growth over came or abilities to understand the Earth’s place in our lives.

Power companies don't get it. People have to mass together and demand renewable energies only as a goal in the foreseeable future.

(A fracking pit.)Power companies don’t get it. People have to mass together and demand renewable energy use only as a goal in the foreseeable future, or we don’t have one. One well placed bullet can kill an elephant. Our environment is like that elephant.

We have our Mother to hold.

We enjoy and need

We enjoy and need “Mom” night and day.

Our sun and its power is a gift. We should accept that gift, we should embrace that glory and light our future for all those who will follow to see.

Some famous artists, like, balh balh, use their work to remind people to celebrate Mother Earth's beauty.

Some famous artists, like Chihuly, and so many others use their work to remind people to celebrate Mother Earth’s beauty.*

If you get the chance, go see The Grand Canyon in person. The sight is a good reminder of how long the Earth has truly been in existence.

It would take one heck of a cosmic drip to do this in just 6000 years.....just saying.

It would take one heck of a cosmic drip to do this in just 6000 years…..just saying.

The Earth’s beauty shines as a light in the center of our eyes. That light mirrors the life around us, and in us. The Earth listens and supplies our needs, but we have to listen as well. We can do this. We can win the environmental wars for Mom. Then, our tables will be set, and our plates full-

Love to all Moms everywhere, and to the one beneath our feet.

If there's anyone we must keep in our corner-it's her.

If there’s anyone we must keep in our corner-it’s her.

I try to celebrate the Earth in my bulletins boards….

( I include allllll the links for those readers who want to  know.)

The ol’ swimming hole is an American tradition, if not a world-wide keepsake memory. Thing is, there’s a new kind of swimming pit in town….

Nearby neighborhood fracking pit. Swim anyone?

Nearby neighborhood fracking pit. Swim anyone?

Me neither. There’s something about these frackin’ radioactive, carcinogenic waters that have turned me off to diving into the hole, but not the story. I’d claim to be muckraking if I could, but that isn’t the case. The story of fracking isn’t a hidden unknown, waiting to be exposed in a column written by me. The truth is out there for all to read. Thing is, some proponents of fracking-i.e. everyone and only everyone who stand to make money off the deal- say the complaints about fracking wear no clothes. I guess, big oil doesn’t believe the naked truth.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned by living this long it’s this: nothing talks louder than money in a room.

There was an opinion posted on CNN last year that I’ve thought about ever since I first read the article. It was in favor of fracking.

The opinion is here if you’d like to read the entire thing:   http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/19/opinion/carl-fracking-new-york/index.html

And, since this article seems to be an iconic example of the stalwart thinking done by advocates of fracking, I thought it best to go thru some of the less than perfect building blocks of boondoggle disastrous thinking that are so eloquently presented in this work of fiction.

There are a few glaring holes in the arguments presented in this opinion piece that’s linked above. Unfortunately, those holes are almost as large as ones often found in the pipes depicted in the diagram below.

We should get people to put their fingers in these leaking pipes.

We should get people to put their fingers in these leaking pipes.

I must add—-the good news, as many pro fracking articles point out, is that government oversight can correct the constant leaking pipe syndrome associated with fracking that will end up poisoning our populace if it isn’t stopped. Oddly, I’d say most of those in favor of fracking also believe that government can’t do anything right……..but I digress. Back to the article of questionable value.

Point one(in the article): Fracking causes few problems, and this process is the major reason gas prices having fallen in the US.

Real Answer:  America is now the fourth largest producer of oil and gas due, at least in part, to Fracking in the US. However, Fracking is NOT the reason gas prices have fallen recently. Read this-

“A central factor in the sharp price drops, analysts say, is the continuing unwillingness of OPEC, a cartel of oil producers, to intervene to stabilize markets that are widely viewed as oversupplied. Prices of OPEC’s crude benchmark have fallen about 40 percent since the organization declined to cut production at a late Novembermeeting in Vienna.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/13/business/energy-environment/oil-prices.html?_r=0

Why is OPEC willing to keep oil prices low? That’s in another blog I wrote( believe it or not, the low bench mark price on oil has to do with terrorism.(https://franque23.wordpress.com/2015/02/05/fact-check-on-name-calling-on-face-book/)

Point Two( of the article in question): The air is cleaner now because we are fracking-

Answer: Ha-how-die and a ho ho ho….”Yet one study found that only one quarter of the four percent drop in U.S. CO2 emissions between 2011 and 2012 is attributable to shale gas. Efforts to increase energy efficiency had a more substantial impact, reported InsideClimate News.”

Yes, American’s air is cleaner than is has been in the past, but this is mostly due to lower emission standards set in place for power companies, and due to the expanded use of alternative car power. But don’t take my word for this:

“When it comes to air quality, the Environment America report estimates that drilling and fracking natural gas wells in the U.S. created 450,000 tons of air pollution in 2012……..”

http://insideclimatenews.org/news/20130730/efficiency-drove-us-emissions-decline-not-natural-gas-study-says

Who will be next! Real estate speculators wanna know!

Who will be next! Real estate speculators wanna know!

Point Three: Again, frracking is worth the risk.

Answer: No, it isn’t.  Just saying, when the Earth starts swayin’, it ain’t dancing.

“The scientists, from the University of Miami, identified 77 earthquakes of varying size in the Poland Township of Ohio, all occurring between March 4 and March 12 and all located near a group of oil and gas wells. The quakes ranged between magnitudes of 1.0 and 3.0”

“According to study co-author Robert Skoumal, that magnitude 3.0 quake was “one the largest earthquakes ever induced by hydraulic fracturing in the United States.””

http://billmoyers.com/2015/01/09/first-time-scientists-prove-fracking-caused-earthquake-strong-enough-felt-humans/

And you know what? There’s nothing like a good quake to make a person feel right at home.

Just ask the person in that car who was out for a spin........

Just ask the person in that car who was out for a spin……..

Point Four:  Fracking is not a threat to ground water.

Answer:  According to studies fracking in the US is something akin to America taking a huge Cosmic bucket of radioactive, highly toxic chemicals and dumping it on its head.

U.S. fracking operations produced an estimated 280 billion gallons of wastewater in 2012, the report notes. This is enough to flood all of Washington, D.C. in a “22-foot deep toxic lagoon,” according to the group.”

This is really someone's tape water.......

This is really someone’s tape water…….but very few explode.

“In Colorado alone, the amount of water used for fracking “was enough to meet the water needs of nearly 200,000 Denver households for a year,” according to the report.”

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/11/fracking-by-the-numbers-report_n_4037295.html

Despite the opinions of those who support fracking, and their belief that fracking has an upside that’s worth the environmental risk the process imposes upon the planet, entire countries and some US states disagree and they’ve ban the process from their land. Many people, states and countries speak out against fracking-join the chorus. We can bring our world back into harmony with Nature.

“The bottom line is this: The numbers on fracking add up to an environmental nightmare,” Environment America’s John Rumpler said in a press release. “If this dirty drilling continues unchecked, these numbers will only get worse…..”

This is a world-wide list of countries and states in America that have bans on fracking. Please get a cup of coco, curl up with a blankie-it’s a long read.

http://keeptapwatersafe.org/global-bans-on-fracking/

Fracking begins with an F, that’s appropriate, but it really should be a four letter word. It’s important to speak out continually against this mind-boggling threat to our lives, and to the lives of all those who follow us. Please tell your representatives to stop fracking now.

Franque23……..hmmmm..maybe I should change my name?
